Still I rise original

THIS IS CURRENTLY BEING EXHIBITED AT THE GALLERY, MALTON FROM SAT 9TH MAY UNTIL THURSDAY 30TH MAY

This piece is inspired by the hills rising from the sea near Runswick Bay on the Yorkshire Coast  and is named after the poem "And Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou, beautiful words of self care, love and acceptance.

I hope this painting will immerse you in the wild elements of the rugged Yorkshire shoreline, to bring you the strength within you to stand alone , but to know you are not alone, you are part of it all.

This abstract landscape is built up of layers of pinks, yellows and white acrylics with lines carved to create texture. This contrasts with soft dark navy inks creating a patchwork effect of the East Yorkshire fields falling towards the sea.
